Another dry rosé that I am adding to my summer essential wine list is Band of Roses! This wine is mellow in the most exciting way possible and it is super easy to drink. Baby pink in color, I smelled notes of strawberry and raspberry that followed through into the flavor. As you can see on my tasting sheet, the body, acid and finish are all ranked as medium, making this wine the perfect complement to a relaxing, mellow day by the lake. It has a subtle silky texture that helped carry flavor into the finish and paired well with aged sharp cheddar cheese on a lemon fig crisp followed by a fresh strawberry. This wine would also pair nicely with avocado toast or salmon topped with freshly squeezed lemon.
The description for the wine on the website says it best:
"Each one of us discovers music in our own way, and the same is true for wine. Inspired by the way music can transform the way we feel, this dry rosé plays a vibrant and floral melody that’ll get the party started.”
Wow, this metaphor is beautiful and so is this rosé.
Made completely from pinot grigio grapes, it is very approachable like many of the other wines produced by Charles Smith. He is an expert in crossing old world European styles with easy drinking, new world styles. I admire that he is using traditional winemaking techniques to make amazing wine that can be consumed by everyday people. The wines he produces are meant to be enjoyed now – that’s right, you don’t have to wait 15 years before being able to fully appreciate their amazing quality and unique style!
